Ballast Water Treatment System BWTS (also known as the BWMS Ballast Water Management System) is a device that cleanses and kills potentially invasive microorganisms when carried from one sea to another.
During the journey, to ensure hull stability. Ships often have to get more water into ballast tanks and move the vessel with it to another area. When the cargo was finished, the weight of the vessel increased, resulting in the discharge of ballast water. If invasive aquatic species exist in the country, it is a very worrying problem for the environment. The ballast water treatment system will solve these problems.
Some common ballast water treatment technologies:
UV Lamp Technology:
Strengths: Simple stysy, Can be divided into Block, No chemicals. The most economical price.
Cons: Most power consuming, Refining causes pressure drop, Must be pumped when discharged (water treatment 2 times)
Electrolysing Technology:
Strengths: Light Electric, Divideable Block, No Purification Required, Kill Microorganisms (Electric Shock and I-on Exist in Ballast)
Cons: I-on lasts a long time (up to 7 days). If the journey is short, use neutral salt. High price.
Nitrogen choking technology: (must be equipped with Nitrogen forming machine)
Use multi-layered filters (not high performance, high pressure drop)
Chemicals (environmentally toxic)
